The five 10s of LPWA

For a wireless network connection type to be considered LPWA it needs a long range, to use low power and be low cost. At iONLINE, we follow the "five 10s" of LPWA, though our LPWA networks far outshine these minimum requirements.

10 years of battery life

10 km from the tower

Under $10 per-device

Transmitting 10s of bytes per hour

Each base should station supports 10k LPWA devices

Not all LPWA networks

are created equal

iONLINE's LPWA networks are built on top of existing wireless network technology like 3G and 4G and only use licensed wireless spectrum. This means you can deploy your LPWA network both nationally and internationally at a low cost with improved quality of service, better security, and full control of every connection.

Supported LPWA networks

iONLINE's LPWA solutions give you access to both NB-IoT and Cat-M1 networks, as well as 3G, LTE and 5G. We build secure private networks on top of existing infrastructure through multiple carriers both nationally and internationally, giving you your own private, secure LPWA network with full management control of every connection. Our APIs also allow you to build your global LPWA network into your existing platforms.

NB-IoT

Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) is an enterprise-grade wireless communication standard built for Internet of Things (IoT). It has been developed to enable a wide range of IoT devices and services to connect to the internet. NB-IoT is unique to other wireless connections in that it provides a longer communication range with deep penetration, allowing devices that are underground or in remote locations to connect. NB-IoT technology allows devices to have up to 15 years of battery life.

Cat-M1

LTE-M's Cat-M1, which is built on the 4G cellular network, is the perfect connectivity solution for IoT deployments that require higher bandwidth connectivity with units that need to last several years on a single battery. Cat-M1, while still being extremely low powered, can deliver speeds of 1 Mbit and support handover, making it the ideal connectivity solution for IoT deployments that are on the move.

NB-IOT VS Cat-M1

iONLINE's LPWA solution includes NB-IoT and Cat-M1, both of which are licensed and secure spectrum, offering different advantages depending on the use case. Cat-M1 speeds are five times faster than NB-IoT, while NB-IoT covers a further distance from the tower. NB-IoT uses less power but transmits less data, which means in some use cases that require higher data volumes, the power consumption is similar to or worse than Cat-M1. Cat-M1 supports tower handover while NB-IoT does not. Chat to our team to find out which solution is best for you.

Global converged coverage

iONLINE's converged networks solution allows your LTE-M solution to harness the power of multiple mobile carriers both nationally and internationally, allowing you to deploy your IoT product and service globally without the need to find new partners. Our converged solution will keep your devices connected wherever they are deployed.

Organisations that use iONLINE’s solution have access to multiple carriers, bridging coverage gaps. They can also fully customise the solution to best fit their business and networking needs, as well as manage IP addresses, ranges, authentication techniques, and more. Better still, iONLINE’s platform lowers mobile data costs.

Full control of every connection

iONLINE’s data manager allows you to manage all aspects of your connected devices and the data allocation to the users/devices on your network. This gives you full control over the usage for each connection, as well as features including usage graphs, data notifications, admin controls, reporting tools, and connection location lookups. These are a few examples of the powerful features you will have in your hands 24/7.
