Google at the centre of tax evasion speculation

Google tries to downplay tax controversy. A top Google executive insisted that the company's "key" role in developing Britain's electronic commerce sector should be taken into account in the row over its controversial tax arrangements. According to figures cited by Conservative MP Charlie Elphicke, Google paid only £3.4 million ($5.4 million, 4.2 million euros) in British corporation tax in 2011 on revenues totalling about £2.5 billion, sparking fury in austerity-hit Britain.

Telkom Mobile cuts data rates

Telkom Mobile unveiled a new range of data offerings aimed at slashing prices to
offer "the best in-bundle rates in the market". However, it's out-of-bundle rates for
pre-paid and hybrid users remains at a market high of R1 per Megabyte. The new
SmartInternet and SmartInternet Saver postpaid data plans will be available from
21 April 2013. Consumers can opt for a bundled offer that includes a device or for a
SIM only option which can be used with their own device.
